Day 15: Wave of Light

Tonight I am writing in honor of every baby lost, ever. October 15th is International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, and every year it is celebrated the world over with the Wave of Light. In whatever time zone you find yourself, light a candle (or candles) for your own babies you have lost, or for friends' babies. In this way, we create a "wave" of light that continuously glows for 24 hours. This is a beautiful way to honor the short lives of our lost babies, as each candle is only lit for one hour--representing the brevity of their lives. And yet, together, we can light up the world.

If you would like more information on the Wave of Light, or International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, head on over to the October 15th website.

Tonight, I light candles for my four lost babies:

Genesis Aria. b/d 5/20/2008.
Dorian Isaac. m. 10/16/2008.
Rowan Iona. m. 11/9/2010.
Kiran Myles. m. 9/4/2012.

Who are you lighting candles for? Let us keep these tiny flames burning in our hearts forever.
